SPORTS REPORT
Despite the obvious difference in the two clubs, the 2-0 record vs the 1-1 record, Alabama seems to be playing aggressive and as a team. If John Parker Wilson and Leigh Tiffin can develop a little accuracy then the Tide may be a dangerous team in Saban's first year. The defense has performed well above expectations, even if it was against a high school team and a Vandy. The Commodores are a good football team and have some serious weapons on offense. We will know a lot more about the Tide in the coming weeks as they get ready for a gauntlet that includes Arkansas, Georgia and Florida State. Now to my buddies over in Lee County. The Tigers have shown a defense that is capable of being one of the best in the SEC in the first two weeks of the season. But put in an offense that couldn't score on Alabama Southern (yes, I know they don't have a team) and the Tigers are in a world of hurt. Brandon Cox has shown that he may not be a quarterback that can stand on his own two feet. But who could with the pressure the Tigers offensive line is allowing on their fifth year quarterback. Auburn's defense is capable of leading the Tigers to a few more wins but if you are expecting anything more than a six or seven win season then think again. This week's picks •Arkansas at Alabama.Look for Wilson and the Tide passing offense to take flight and give Saban and company a huge win. The crowd should be fierce and so will the Tide receivers. Bama- 28, Ark- 17
•Auburn at MSU. This game will be closer than a lot of people want to imagine. The Bulldog defense is stout and proved it against a dominating LSU team. With the two teams equal on defense it will come down to who has the most "potent" offense. This is one of the last games on the Tigers' schedule that Auburn can honestly claim to have a better offense. Barring a complete meltdown by Cox and the Tiger offensive line, AU-20, MSU-10
