Leroy rolls past Keith 34-0

Coach Danny Powell's Leroy Bears upped their record to 2-0 and their winning streak to 10 straight games with the 34-0 win over the Keith Bears on Friday night in Orrville.

Clint Moseley had another excellent night, throwing for 214 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Leroy got off to a slow offensive start against Keith only scoring 7 points in the first 22 minutes of the 2A Region contest. The first score for Leroy came with 3:56 left the opening quarter when Moseley found Patrick Rivers for an 18-yard touchdown reception. Paul Gartman added the extra point for a 7-0 advantage.

After a couple of Keith turnovers and Leroy punts, the Bears from Leroy would add their final points of the first half when Moseley found Detrick Powell for a 16-yard touchdown reception. Gartman's PAT failed to make it 13-0 with 56.6 seconds remaining until halftime south Dallas County. After some final halftime adjustments, Leroy scored again with 8:10 left in the third quarter when Michael Bracey hit a 5-yard touchdown run. With the previous extra point was missed, Coach Powell elected to go for the two-point conversion, which was successful as Moseley found Aerick Davis in the back corner of the end zone to make the score 21-0. On the ensuing possession for Keith, Tyler Faith would recover a fumble for Leroy. That would be followed by a 1- yard touchdown run by Powell with 2:29 left in the third quarter to give Leroy a 27-0 lead. The Gartman extra point was blocked by the Keith defensive line.

In the middle of the fourth quarter, Moseley found Aerick Davis for a 47-yard touchdown strike. Gartman added his final extra point to give Leroy a 34- 0 lead and victory in the first region game of the year. Leroy (2-0, 1-0) will host the Excel Panthers on Friday night. Excel defeated Southern Choctaw 21-13 sending their record to 2-0 as well.
