JPD taking applications for Citizen's Police Academy

The Jackson Police Department is currently taking applications for those who are interested in participating in its Citizens Police Academy.

The eight-week course will begin during the first week of October. Students will meet once a week and learn a considerable amount about the work a police officer does.

The course covers many aspects of police work including gathering evidence at a crime scene, forensics, the court system, dispatching, illegal drug investigations plus much more. A tour of the Jackson Police Department and Clarke County Jail have been a feature of the class in the past.

There is no cost for those who wish to participate in the course. Applications can be picked up at the Jackson Police Department Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
