Sept. 11 remembered
Students and faculty at Jackson High School remembered the events of Sept. 11, 2001, which claimed the lives of approximately 3,000 people, with a special ceremony in the school's auditorium, Tuesday. JHS Principal Ken Harbuck welcomed everyone and recalled where he was when he heard the news of the attacks. The Jackson High School band played the national anthem. Speaker for the event was U.S. Army officer Thomas Schultz, who said it was hard to put into words why he is proud to be an American. "It's something that comes from the heart," he said. A special film showing scenes for that day's tragic events, when terrorists flew jetliners into the World Trade Center's twin towers, was shown, while everyone in attendance observed a few moments of silence.
