Clarke County United Way kickoff Sept. 17

United Way of Southwest Alabama will kick off its campaign in Clarke County at a luncheon meeting Monday, Sept. 17 at Grove Hill United Methodist Church from 11:30 a.m until 1 p.m.

Pace reunion Sept. 29 at VFW in Jackson

Descendants of Allen and Ruby Etheredge Pace will gather for a family reunion Saturday, Sept. 29, 9 a.m. at the VFW Club in Jackson. Family members are asked to bring lunch and all necessary accompaniments for the noon meal.

Friends are invited to visit during the day.

Narcotics Anonymous meeting

Narcotics Anonymous meets Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 302 E. Church St., Jackson.

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are conducted in the fellowship hall of Visitation Catholic Church, West Clinton Street in Jackson Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m.

VFW 5355 meetings

The VFW Post 5355 and ladies and auxiliary meets the third Thursday of every month, 6 p.m., at the VFW Club on Club Wiley Road.

Members are urged to attend and new members are welcome.

Leroy PTO open house

Leroy High School PTO will conduct an open house on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. All are encouraged to join the PTO and support the school. PTO members will be eligible for the drawing of door prizes.

Peterman Station Arts and Crafts Festival

The 24th annual Peterman Station Arts and Crafts Festival will be Saturday, Nov. 17, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in downtown Peterman, 6 miles north of Monroeville. There will be 100 or more booths filled with arts and crafts of all types, entertainment throughout the day and down home foods.

Twelve foot x 12 foot booths are for rent for $45 without electricity and $50 with electricity.

No admission is charged.

CCERA meets Sept. 20

The Clarke County Education Retirees Association (CCERA) will conduct their first meeting for 2007-2008 Thursday, Sept. 20, 11:30 a.m. at the Jackson Steakhouse.

Diabetes Classes

Diabetes classes are conducted each Tuesday, beginning Sept. 11, 6:30 p.m. at the Jackson Medical Center. For additional information contact Rene' Forman, RN BSN, 251-246-9021.

Free CEU Blitz for RNs and LPNs

All RNs and LPNs are invited to a free CEU Blitz, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m., registration at 5:30, at Pearce Memorial Park Assembly House. The topic will be on Alzheimer's.

Multiple speakers and topics will be covered Sept. 22, 7:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 7.

Blood Drive Sept. 20

United Blood Services will conduct a blood drive at the Jackson Medical Center on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2-8 p.m. T-shirts and cholesterol screenings will be given to donors. For additional information contact Rene' Forman at 247-1117.

SWAIA presents PTA President Laurie McCaulley

The Southwest Alabama Improvement Association (SWAIA) invites the public to its monthly meeting and forum Tuesday, Sept. 18, 7 p.m. at the Jackson Steakhouse. Guest speaker will be Alabama Parent Teachers Association President Laurie McCaulley. She will be addressing the new face of PTA and the role that PTA plays in today's family. A question and answer period will be provided.
