WashCo Grand Jury hands down indictments

The Washington County Grand Jury considered 100 cases and returned 68 true bills to Circuit Court last week. They included 55 felonies and 13 misdemeanors.

Among those indicted was Washington County Commissioner Willie Dixon. (See story elsewhere in newspaper).

One person faces seven counts of forgery and other charges. Christy Powell faces these plus illegal possession of a credit card and possession of a forged instrument.

The following are names of most of the indictees and the charges:

Antonio A. Bettis, possession of controlled substance; David Lee Gurley, manufacturing controlled substance; Christopher Seabury, possession of controlled substance; Oscar F. Gardner Jr., theft of property; Patrick Poole, arson; Melvin R. Graham, possession of controlled substance.

Jed Hare, theft by deception; Jason E. Moseley, two counts of theft of property; Arlene Clay, interfering with custody; Craig A. Stewart, possession of controlled substance; Shawn L. Reed, theft of property, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief.

Robert C. Weaver, possession of controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia; Charles A. Robbins, sexual abuse and two counts of rape; Virace L. Weaver, robbery and assault; Michelle E. Clifton, robbery and assault.

Anthony T. Brown, possession of marijuana and use/possession of drug paraphernalia; Tera R. Reed, domestic violence; Michael D. Bryan, theft of property; Alton W. Weaver, Jr., robbery.

Vick L. Barnes, Sr., possession of cocaine; Derrick L. Reed, burglary; Thomas S. Smith, sexual abuse; Gary E. Padgett, four counts of sexual abuse and two counts of sodomy; Brenda A. Johnston, possession of forged instrument.

Tommie W. Simpson, possession of controlled substance; Jerry Dawkins, robbery; Allen L. Chambers, possessing/ receiving controlled substance; Tyler S. Carpenter, possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Aaron Phillips, discharging gun into occupied building; Jack W. Overcasher, receiving stolen property; Timothy B. Beech Jr., receiving stolen property; Ryan P. Brett, possession of controlled substance; Carl B. Pope, receiving stolen property; Marcus L. Weaver, receiving stolen property.

Thomas W. Platt, theft of property; Joseph J. Smith, driving under the influence; Jimmy W. Foster, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment; Joshua L. Powell, theft of property, receiving stolen property; Thomas S. Murray, domestic violence, assault, resisting arrest.

Charles B. Doby, trafficking marijuana; Calvin L. Jenkins, possession of marijuana; Christy Weaver, theft of property; Nicholas L. Weaver, criminal mischief; Joseph B. Byrd, possession of controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mack C. Daniels Jr., possession of marijuana and possession of controlled substance; Theresa D. Smith, possession of controlled substance; Eddie L. Spotts, possession of controlled substance and possession of marijuana; Lashunda M. Byrd, burglary and assault.
