Dog fighting detection
Law enforcement officers from 22 agencies were in Jackson last Friday to learn how to gather evidence, identify those who fight dogs by the equipment they use and successfully prosecute dog fighting cases. The class was organized by Jackson Animal Control Officer Lee Hutto (left) in conjunction with the Jackson Police Department and was conducted at the Alabama Southern Community College, Jackson Campus. The teacher of the course was Jama Singley (right), who is the chief animal cruelty investigator for the Lee County Humane Society. During the past eight years she has had a 100 percent conviction rate using the methods she teaches.
