The children were eager and excited, and it showed in their faces and voices Thursday morning, Aug. 23, at McIntosh Elementary School. The occasion was the dedication of playground equipment to the school from the McIntosh Industrial Park Area Improvement Association (MIPAIA) on Thursday, Aug. 23. The $30,000 donation funded the equipment which allows the children to enjoy playing and promotes physical fitness.

Denise Taylor of Ciba welcomed everyone to the ribbon cutting and expressed her pleasure that MIPAIA is able to do this for the children, and admonished them to "be safe."

Principal Edna Billingsly told the crowd that the children had not yet played on the equipment and expressed her appreciation that "…our students now have a great place to play for years to come. It is truly a great day." Then she led the children in a rousing "THANK YOU" to industry representatives.

Steve Asbill, Olin plant manager, admonished the children "…to do your homework, be nice to the teachers and friendly to each other," as they enjoy the new equipment.
