Two candidates recently announced their intent to seek the at-large seat on the Mowa council.

Wayne Weaver (incumbent)

Wayne Weaver of McIntosh has been the MOWA council member at-large for 12 years. He has two opponents this time for the September 8 tribal election: Kesler Weaver Jr. and Susie Weaver-Simmons.

Weaver is running on his record of which he is proud. He serves on the following: MOWA Industrial Development Board, Executive Board, and the Athletic Board. During his 12 years, Weaver is pleased that a new gymnasium has been constructed, a new concession stand for the annual Pow Wow and a new 40 x 40 pavilion.

He also says that he and Chief Taylor have been able to secure MOWAdiscount pharmaceutical cards for those without insurance to get prescription medicines at a 40 percent discount.

Wayne Weaver hopes the tribal members will support him for another term

KeslerWeaver, Jr.

Kesler Weaver Jr. is also a candidate for the council at-large seat in the Sept. 8 MOWA election. He says he is asking for the support of the people. Weaver would like to make positive changes for the Tribe as a whole. He is a pastor and he wants to bring honor and integrity to the council through his election.
