Walgreens has announced that it will open for business Monday and has also purchased one of the locally-owned pharmacies.

Jackson Family Pharmacy will close its doors at the end of the day Friday, with most of the staff relocating to the new Walgreens pharmacy.

According to Jackson Family Pharmacy's pharmacist Anita Overton, the pharmacy hours at Walgreens will be from 8 a.m - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. She said it is her understanding that once more pharmacy personnel are hired, the pharmacy will be open on Saturdays and Sundays as well.

As for the closing of Jackson Family Pharmacy, Overton said, "I would personally like to thank everyone who has stuck with us through the years. We really appreciate your business. We have some of the best customers in the area and look forward to serving them at our new location."
