Pine City Ambassadors attend retreat

Jacksons Pine City Ambassadors traveled to Camp Beckwith in Fairhope.
The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce's Pine City Ambassadors traveled to Camp Beckwith in Fairhope, Alabama on August 10-11 for their beginning retreat.

During the retreat they learned to work together as a team and participated in activities that taught them to trust one another.

The purpose of the retreat was to provide an opportunity for the ambassadors to become better acquainted and to value their differences as the "Ambassador Team".

The ambassadors participated in get acquainted and teambuilding activities.

Chamber of Commerce Director LaShaunda Holly said, "The students walked away with a vision of how to treat all individuals with fairness, dignity and respect."

This retreat was made possible through Auburn University's Rural Alabama Initiative Grant. The grant funds extension-supported educational initiatives related to community and economic development for Alabama communities. Grants between $1,000 and $25,000 were awarded to fund worthy local projects.

Jackson's Junior Leadership program was awarded over $6,000. Holly stated, "We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to attend the retreat. Our sponsors feel that this event provided an opportunity for the ambassadors to bond despite their differences."

Other activities and amenities that they enjoyed and had access to included: rope climbing, swimming pool, canoes, volleyball courts, kayaks and nature trails.
