Morvin resident indicted by grand jury on murder charge
      Norris Geane Marks was indicted by the Clarke County Grand Jury for murder Aug. 15. According to witnesses Marks and Ernest James Richardson were at Marks' home in Morvin in December of 2006 when the two began to argue. Marks is said to have shot Richardson in the chest with a 12-gauge shotgun.

Jackson Family Pharmacy sells to Walgreens

      Walgreens has announced that it will open for business Monday and has also purchased one of the locally-owned pharmacies. Jackson Family Pharmacy will close its doors at the end of the day Friday, with most of the staff relocating to the new Walgreens pharmacy.

Clarification
      Willie C. Campbell of Jackson asked for a clarification regarding last week's Clarke County Sheriff's report. He said he is not the Willie Campbell who was arrested for theft of services, third degree, by the Coffeeville Police Department.

Jackson Police to conduct checkpoints
      The Jackson Police Department will conduct several checkpoints Saturday, Sept. 1, on Labor Day weekend. Deputy Chief Mark Harrell said the road blocks will be conducted on Walker Springs Road, as well as highways 177 and 69, and at the intersection of county roads 2 and 15.
