Gas board wants to be ready for ThyssenKrupp A recent trip to New York was made by board members, Thomasville Mayor Sheldon Day, Grove Hill Mayor Lamar Hudson, Jackson Mayor Richard Long and management team members Al Bean, C.J. Arnold and Tommy Horsley of Clarke Mobile Counties Gas District to "lay the groundwork for infrastructure for future needs, possibly with ThyssenKrupp," as Day explained during Monday's board meeting. "We want to be prepared and be ready to respond, so we went to lay some groundwork," he added. According to Arnold the group went to improve the company's bond rating and were "looking at infrastructure improvements." CMC Gas has removed gas from the lines at the ThyssenKrupp steel mill site and has been in contact with the state and ThyssenKrupp about where to locate the new lines. According to Arnold talks with ThyssenKrupp representatives on supplying gas for the mill are going well. "I fell good about us serving the plant," he said. He added that a final decision might be made by Oct. 1. Other business •Al Bean reported that they had been approached by South Alabama Utility and CMC Gas might sell them gas. •AlaGas also met Monday and board members were announced. Tommy Horsley was named chairman, Gerald Borden as president and Al Bean as recording secretary. •A resolution for the long-term purchase of natural gas from L.A. Gas was approved.
•The amended budget was approved.
