One charged following shooting in Leroy Leroy resident Jerry Reeves got a surprise late Thursday night, Aug. 9, when a bleeding man knocked at his door asking for assistance. The man was Joshua Parnell, 25, of Leroy, who had allegedly been shot by Patrick Fox, 28, of Jackson. Parnell had gone to Reeves' Powell Cutoff Road residence following the incident and was bleeding from gunshot wounds to the upper right side of his abdomen and right arm. Reeves called 9-1-1 and Washington County deputies Aaron Carpenter and Donnie Sullivan responded to the scene. During Dep. Carpenter's investigation, he discovered that Parnell's brother, Patrick Parnell, 26, had also been shot in the right arm. According to the deputy's report, Fox became involved in an argument with the brothers and stated that they made advances toward him causing him to feel threatened. He is accused of pulling a .380 pistol and firing a number of shots, several of which struck the other two men. Both victims were transported to Jackson Medical Center (JMC). Patrick Parnell was treated at JMC and Josh Parnell was transported to a Mobile hospital for treatment.
Fox was placed under arrest and booked into the Washington County Jail on two counts of attempted murder and first degree assault. His bond was set at $60,000.
