Pre-Teen America selects Sarah Hussain as finalist

Sarah Hussain, daughter of Randy and Ikram Hussain of Jackson, has been selected as a finalist in the Pre-Teen Alabama Scholarship and Recognition Program. The event will be conducted Sept. 1-3 at the Sheraton in Birmingham.

Pre-Teen Alabama is by invitation only involving girls 7-12 years of age. Selection is based on academic records, awards and honors achieved in outside activities.

State finalists will be evaluated on academic achievement; volunteer service to the community; school honors and activities; development of personal skills and abilities; general knowledgeability; communicative ability; and on-stage acknowledgment of accomplishments.

More than $5,000 in educational bonds, prizes and awards will be given.

Miss Hussain had several local sponsors.
