One injured in Highway 43 wreck
One person was injured in a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Highway 56 and U.S. 43, Tuesday, Aug. 7, around 8 a.m. According to emergency personnel at the scene, John C. Milstead received minor injuries when the 2000 Buick Park Avenue in which he was a passenger was struck in the side by a 2003 Nissan pickup driven by Rita Douglas of Fruitdale. Evonne Milstead, the driver of the Buick, was traveling south on 43 and reportedly attempted to swerve and miss Douglas' vehicle, which pulled into her path from Highway 56. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. Wagarville Fire Department and JETS ambulance service responded.
