Back to school means back to the library

During the school year, the library and staff of White Smith Memorial Library promote the significance for school kids to get a library card.

"Many students will ultimately need a library card to check out materials for special projects, papers or assignments. They may also want to use our computers to do research or to complete assignments or papers," said library director Debra Grayson. "The library is open until 6 o'clock on Mondays and Thursdays to accommodate students that may need to use the public library during after-school hours.

"We also like to assist teachers by creating special reserve collections which students can use here at the library - for example if a class is learning about dinosaurs or plants we would be more than happy to hold those books for their students to use in the library.

"We can also go to classrooms and do a talk about the library or what we favor - and the kids love - the classes can visit us for a tour and a story."

For more information visit White Smith Memorial Library at 213 College Ave., Jackson or call (251) 246-4962.
