Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson has announced a Matron's Day program with Pastor D.W. Moore as speaker Aug. 12. Sunday School will be preceding the event at 9:30 a.m.
Dr. Robert Smith Jr. will be the guest speaker honoring Pastor Moore at a Father/Son Fellowship service at 6 p.m.
He serves as a professor of Christian preaching at Beeson Divinity School of Samford University in Birmingham. An ordained Baptist minister, he is the recipient of Southern's 1996 Findley B. Edge Award for Teaching Excellence and the Beeson Divinity School's Teacher of the Year Award in 2005.
