This year's contest will feature calf roping, steer wrestling, women's barrel racing, women's breakaway roping, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, team roping and bull riding.

In addition, this year, local contestants may enter any of the timed events through the PCA (Professional Cowboy Association) with a $70 permit charge and $60 for each additional event. All local contestants wanting to enter will need to call the PCA at 251-947-2176 by Monday, July 30, between 9 a.m and 3 p.m.

Ticket prices for the event will be $10 for adults at the gate and $8 for children.

Advanced tickets may be purchased at First United Security Bank, Merchants Bank, Tack & Rack, Jackson Academy or by seeing Leslie Savage at Wilson Real Estate. Advance tickets will be $8 for adults and $6 for children.

There will be a calf scramble for the children with prizes to be given away. There will also be a steer dressing where three people per team will have to get a steer over the line and dress it with boxer shorts. Any spectator can participate in these events during the rodeo.

There will be a BBQ plate sale on Thursday Aug. 2 at Jackson Academy with proceeds going to the JA Athletic Association. Plates are $6. Businesses interested in ordering plates contact the school at 246-0211.

For more information contact Dina Cabaniss at 769-1299 or Morgan Rogers at 769-0664.
