WCHS ready to play hard-nosed football

Pine City Rodeo coming Aug. 3-4
      The annual Pine City Rodeo is back for its sixth season at the Jackson Academy Rodeo Arena Aug. 3-4, at 8 p.m. This year's contest will feature calf roping, steer wrestling, women's barrel racing, women's breakaway roping, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, team roping and bull riding.

      The Jackson 11-year-old All-Stars recently won the District 3 championship in Jackson. Members of the team (above L-R) are Nathan Hawk, Daniel Smith, Drake Stringer, William Overstreet, Daniel Dees, Daniel Coleman, Randy Bumpers, Chase Gunter, Khalil Lang, Caleb Anderson and Gage Raley.

Wade and Norwood win fishing tournament
      Mike Norwood and Leon Wade captured the 2007 Tour Championship of the Share the Gospel Tournament Trail with a first place finish in the Selma Open on June 30. Norwood and Wade brought a five-fish limit to the scales that weighed 19.62 pounds for the win, their second for the 2007 season.
