Holt - Loper exchange vows June 16
The bride is the daughter of Patricia and Ricky Loper of Jackson. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Houston Loper of Jackson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Robert Bradley. The bridegroom is the son of Leella Holt and Wayne Holt, of Muscle Shoals. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Shook and Jean Holt, all of Muscle Shoals and the late Roy Eugene Holt. The church was decorated with iron candelabras with white pillar candles and flowers, and an arrangement of roses, peonies, green hydrangea, hypericum berries, viburnum, snapdragon and willow in a six foot metal urn. Escorted by her father, the bride entered to Cannon in D by Johann Pachelbel. She wore a strapless satin Aline gown with platinum embroidery on the bodice and cathedral length train. Her veil was cathedral length with a second shorter veil and blusher that was lifted by her father when he gave her away. Melissa Postle, the bride's sister, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Amy Cauthen of Luverne, Lacey Gideon of Mobile, Jamie Gaillard of Orlando, Fla., Aundrea Lollar of Tuscaloosa and Catherine Allen of Houston, Texas. They wore strapless satin A-line dresses in azalea with cascading backs. Kathleen Tune of Memphis, Tenn., cousin of the bride, was the flower girl. Best man was the groom's brother, Mark Holt. Groomsmen were Tyler Mann and Brent Goedjen, both of Muscle Shoals, Stephen Burton of Jasper and Austin Minter of Jacksonville. The ring bearer was the bride's nephew, Tyler Postle of Corinth, Miss. Reception The bride and groom were transported from the church to the historic Jemison - Van de Graaff mansion by a white horse and carriage. The antebellum mansion was decorated in a garden theme. Arrangements of peonies, green hydrangea and roses were placed throughout the house, on the four fireplaces and the staircase banister where the bride and groom were formally announced. Guests were greeted to the reception with glasses of champagne. The couple was toasted by the best man and matron of honor. They danced to "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison. This was followed by a father-daughter dance to "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. Buffet style roasted chicken, Tuscan style vegetables, angel ham biscuits with cheese and chives, mini-beef Wellingtons and a roasted potato bar were served from silver dishes and spilling out of garden style urns decorated with silver candelabras and flowers. Desserts included a chocolate fountain with fruit and other dippers. The bride's cake was a three-layer white butter cream cake covered with swirls topped with a fondant bow. The groom's cake was chocolate cake covered with chocolate ganache topped with limes, grapes and willow. After a week-long honeymoon in St. Lucia in the West Indies, the couple will reside in Tuscaloosa. Rehearsal Dinner The rehearsal dinner was hosted at KK's Steakhouse in Tuscaloosa. Mustard crusted pork loin, bacon wrapped green bean bundles, garlic mashed potatoes, rolls and salads were served. A cobbler bar with ice cream was available for dessert. Bridal Tea A bridal tea was hosted at Woodward Avenue Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals on April 15. Hostesses included Kim Morgan, Shane Conn, Nancy Powell, Sue Plaxco, Janice Starkey and Jquan Wooten. Rose-decorated pink petit fours, cheeses, crackers, mints and chocolates were served. Drinks included pink punch with limes and citrus water with lemons to compliment the bridal colors of honeydew and azalea. Special guests from the brideelect's family included her mother, Patricia Loper; aunt, Juanita Whitcomb; and sister, Melissa Postle. Those of the prospective groom's family were his mother, Leella Holt; grandmothers, Mary Shook and Jean Holt; aunts, Julie Shook, Rita Holt, Kay Holt and Kim Holt. Bridal Brunch Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson was the location for a bridal brunch on May 5. Hosting the event were Juanita Allday, Susan Davis, Sissy Grant, Loretta Lowery, Beth Manchester, Ruth Milstead, Loretta Moseley, Cynthia Tuberville, Sarah Stanley and Dorothy Wiggins. Special guests attending included the couple's mothers, the groom-elect's grandmothers, Miss Loper's grandmother, aunt and sister, Jane Loper, Janice Odom and Melissa Postle respectively. Brunch foods of mixed fruit and dips, cheeses, coffee cakes and a variety of breakfast foods and casseroles were served along with cappuccino punch. Tables were decorated with linens in the bride-elect's chosen colors with ivy topiaries accented in pink decorating the hall. Bridal Shower Lynda Shaw, Kim Cooley, Brandi Wolfe and Wendi Thigpen hostessed a bridal shower at Southern Heat Exchanger, Miss Loper's place of employment, on June 1. A white buttercream cake decorated in white roses was served with ice cream and drinks. Lingerie Shower A tropical theme reflecting the couple's future honeymoon in St. Lucia set the atmosphere of a lingerie shower June 2 at the home of Amy Cauthen in Mountain Brook. Fruits, cheeses, strawberry buttercream cakes decorated with tropical flowers and other finger foods and drinks were served. Co-hosting the event were Melissa Postle, Aundrea Lollar and Catherine Allen. Guests in attendance were the bridesmaids, Alpha Gamma Delta sorority sisters and other friends from college. Bridesmaids were treated to beauty treatments at Elements Salon and Spa in Tuscaloosa June 15. Following their spa visit, a luncheon was hosted by the bride-elect's aunt, Juanita Whitcomb at the Olive Garden.
