Dixie League action
14-year-old All-Stars flying high

The Jackson 14 year old All- Stars are off to a strong start in the Dixie-Major League Tournament in Jackson.

Jackson opened up with a 11-1 win over South Baldwin on July 7 and picked up a 13-3 victory over North Clarke on July 8.

Carlos Delgado picked up the win on the mound striking out eight batters while giving up only three hits against South Baldwin.

Will Blount was 2-3 with a double and a three-run homer to lead Jackson at the plate. Josh Kimbell, Tyrell Kinder, Jarrett Davis, Justin Besteda and Carlos Delgado added one hit each.

In the second game against North Clarke, the 14 year olds expected their toughest competition of the tournament.

With Phillip Ervin on the mound, Jackson faced little resistance from North Clarke handing them a 13-3 defeat.

Ervin went the distance striking out 14 batters. He also had a huge night at the plate going 2-4 with five RBIs and two home runs.

Will Blount joined in on the home run barrage with a 2-3 performance that included two long balls. Lincoln Reeves added a solo shot and a double. Josh Kimbell was 2-4 while A.J. Portis, Mallie Reed and Jarrett Davis added singles.

Jackson faced Daphne on July 9 and won 9-1. Will Blount pitched a complete game to pick up the win on the mound.

The All-Stars faced North Clarke on July 10 with North Clarke needing two wins to keep Jackson from claiming the championship.

Results were unknown at press time.
