Coupland - Chastain exchange vows May 26

Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Matthew Coupland
Emily Lucille Chastain and Christopher Matthew Coupland were united in marriage on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 6 in the evening at the First United Methodist Church of Jackson.

Officiating the double-ring ceremony was the Rev. Jim Dufriend.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Chastain of Jackson, Kendall Coupland of Birmingham and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Eades of Kimberly.

The front doors of the church were decorated with wreaths of assorted greenery with tulle bows and streamers. Two large sterling silver bowls held dried rose petals in the narthex of the church. A matching arrangement of pink roses, stargazer lilies, apple blossom larkspur, oak leaf hydrangeas and pink peach blossoms adorned either side of the altar.

Colette Chivers, organist, played "Ave Maria" by Franz Schubert during the seating of the grandmothers and "Canon in D" by Pachelbel for the seating of the mothers. Blake Ferguson, trumpeter, played "Abide in Me" and "Jesu Joy of Man's Desire" by Bach for the attendants' processional. Brian Jemison sang "Surely the Presence" by Wolfe and "The Lord's Prayer" during the blessing of the marriage.

The bride, escorted by her father, entered the church to "Trumpet Voluntary".

She wore a strapless formal gown of white satin overlaid with Chantilly lace and adorned with hand-sewn crystals and seed pearls. The back of the dress featured covered buttons with a cathedral length train. A satin on satin ribbon was tied in a bow at the waist with streamers falling the length of the gown. Her veil was cathedral length with crystals attached to a crystal tiara.

The bouquet was French tied with pink peonies, stephanotis, Oceania and pink roses and wax flower tied with satin ribbon monogrammed with a "C" in ecru at the end of the dress-length streamers.

Serving as matron of honor was Kasey Fleming, sister of the bride of Jackson. Her sister, Mary Caylor Chastain of Jackson and Catherine Bounds of Birmingham were maids of honor.

Attending the bride were Emily Hamilton Shell of Mobile, Courtney Reeves of Foley, Emily Durham of Birmingham, Jillian Ferguson of Gulf Shores and Rainsley Holzchuh of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

The bridesmaids wore formal length satin gowns of champagne with crystals embellishing the empire waistlines. They carried French hand-tied bouquets of pink, Oceania and peach roses and wax flower with crystals arranged throughout and satin streamers.

The groom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were John Durham, Jonathan Nix, James Hardy and Charles York, all of Birmingham; James Burnett III and Jeffrey Fleming Jr., both of Jackson.

Ring bearers were Paul Jeffrey Fleming III and William Fleming, both nephews of the bride. Candle lighter was Jake Brown and ushers were William Edge and John Edge, all cousins of the bride of Jackson.

Directing the wedding was the bride's aunt, Amy Brown of Jackson.

Reception

A reception was conducted at the H.W. Pearce Memorial Park Assembly House.

White paper lanterns were hung at all entrances. White columns held urns of hot pink larkspur, pink roses and blue and oak leaf hydrangeas. The center console table held a cascading arrangement of the same flowers.

Tables in the ballroom featured white cloths, white shear toppers with silver candelabrum and mixed fresh cut flowers. On the veranda, tables held wrought iron urns with candles and a large center table held an antique urn with blue, white and green oak leaf hydrangeas.

Guests were served tenderloin, marinated shrimp with artichoke, crawfish etoufeé, marinated vegetables, chicken salad puffs, assorted fruits, quiche, roll-ups, assorted lemon and raspberry pastries and salmon paté.

The bride's table held a sixlayer cake with buttercream icing and scroll decorations on a silver cake plateau.

A three-tiered square chocolate cake, monogrammed with "C" around the layers, was served from a silver square plateau on the groom's table.

Chi O Mega Sorority sisters formed the sisterhood circle and sang "Chi O Mega Shades" a special song for all new brides of the sorority.

The bride and groom danced to Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" and the bride and her father danced to "My Girl".

After a seven-day honeymoon in St. Lucia, the newlyweds are residing in Gulf Shores.

Rehearsal Dinner

The groom's family hosted the rehearsal dinner at the Jackson Golf House. Special guests were the parents and grandparents of the couple and the wedding party and their dates.

A seashore theme was used throughout the room. Dining tables were covered with white cloths and burlap toppers. Each held wrought iron hurricane globes and miniature sand pails filled with small seashells were used for place cards.

Guests were greeted on the veranda with wine and a variety of appetizers. Dinner included grilled tenderloin, chicken with marinated asparagus, potato casserole and a mixed green summer salad with vinegarette dressing. A two-tiered chocolate cake with almond filling and white chocolate seashells on top was served for dessert.

Toasts were made by the fathers and family members of the couple. Close friends chose this time to express their best wishes and reminisce. A slide show of the couple was presented by David Whitson of Birmingham.

The groom chose this time to present gifts to the members of the wedding party.

Bridesmaid's Brunch

A brunch honoring the bride and her bridesmaids was hosted at the home of Barbara Hundley the morning of the wedding. Cohostesses were Betty Ann Bounds and Cindy Boykin.

The foyer of the home featured a bouquet of blue hydrangeas. Guests were greeted and served mimosas in the formal living room.

Tables with white linen cloths were placed in the sunroom with crystal vases of fresh cut flowers from Mrs. Hundley's garden. An antique compote with matching candlesticks and fresh pink roses adorned the formal dining room table.

Guests were served fresh fruit, deviled egg casserole, cheese grits and assorted Danish and biscuits with jams and jellies.

Special guests included the mothers and grandmothers of the couple and Mrs. Robert Edge and Mrs. John Brown, both of Jackson, aunts of the bride.

Wedding day luncheon

A wedding day luncheon for out-of-town guests and family members was hosted at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Edge of Jackson, uncle and aunt of the bride.

Guests were seated around the pool and served barbecue, baked beans, cole slaw, rolls and assorted desserts.
