Clarke County Courthouse annex opened
The new Clarke County Courthouse annex was formally opened Monday with a brief ribbon cutting ceremony by county commissioners and other officials. The new $3.56 million twostory building connects on both floors to the existing courthouse and features two new courtrooms (one is pictured at bottom, left), a new commissioners/probate courtroom (bottom, right), offices for the two circuit judges and their staffs and other space. The two courtrooms each have their own jury, witness and conference rooms. The addition necessitated the creation of new offices for the license commissioner and probate judge in the existing courthouse. J.C. Duke Contractors was the contractor for the project that started in early 2006.
