New Pine City Ambassadors named

Each year the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Pine City Ambassadors, Jackson's Junior Leadership Program. They are selected through an in-depth interview process in which each student's knowledge of Jackson, communication skills and leadership skills are explored.

This year the 16 Pine City Ambassadors. All of which represent Jackson High School, Jackson Academy, and Leroy High School. This nine-month program is designed to develop youth leadership skills that will enable the students to work and serve their community collaboratively.

Chamber Director LaShaunda Holly said, "The city of Jackson has been declared an Alabama Community of Excellence participant; therefore, our youth leadership program has been enhanced according to ACE's standards. Each month the students will join their peers in various locations for a dynamic day designed to provide them with opportunities for personal growth. We will invite speakers from all over the state to facilitate our meetings."

Some of the workshop topics included in this year's term include Leadership Skills Development, Community Development, Local Government, Community Resources and Economic Development.

Sponsor's for the program are Marty Parker, Technology Resources manager at Boise; Tina Pugh, owner of Preschoolers Unlimited and Steve James, area sergeant for the Conservation Enforcement Department. These individuals are leaders in all aspects of their lives.
