Four people received injuries due to wrecks which occurred Monday and Tuesday in the Jackson area, keeping police and rescue personnel busy.
The first incident took place Monday around 9:36 a.m., when a 2005 Mack dump truck loaded with gravel, driven by Gary Paul Hallmann, 46, of Mobile, overturned while he was attempting to make a left-hand turn from Industrial Road onto J.W. Andrews Highway. Gravel covered the right southbound lane of the highway and diesel fuel leaked from one of the truck's tanks.
Jackson firefighters hurried to stop the diesel fuel from running into storm drains which empty into a nearby creek. The truck was owned by Hosea Weaver & Son Inc. of Mt. Vernon.
Hallmann received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Jackson Medical Center by JETS ambulance for treatment.
That same afternoon, around 4:06, a loaded log truck, owned by Jordan Timber and driven by Jimmy Jerome Goggins, 44, of Silas, overturned on Warren Street.

Goggins was forced to take Warren Street because Industrial Road was closed. According to police reports, the truck driver met an automobile on the narrow street and attempted to move over for it to pass. The right tires of the truck slipped into the soft ditch between the road and the railroad tracks causing it to tip over. No one was injured, but a slow fuel leak from one of the truck's tanks caused some concern.
Four people were treated for non-life-threatening injuries following a wreck that occurred Tuesday around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 43 North near the former Trisha's Greenhouse.
The crash occurred when a 2006 Pontiac, driven by Amanda Parnell, 19, of Jackson rear-ended a 1995 Cadillac, driven by Willie Clyde Williams III, 25, of Coffeeville. Williams was attempting to make a lefthand turn from the southbound lane into a business located where the greenhouse was located. Both vehicles were severely damaged.

Williams, Parnell and a passenger in Williams' vehicle, Frederick Williams, 30, were injured and transported by JETS ambulance to Jackson Medical Center for treatment.
