Grove Hill to hire tourism director

The Grove Hill Town Council voted in favor of hiring a director of tourism and historical preservation during Monday night's meeting.

Part of the director's duties will include serving as curator the Clarke County Museum. The director will be hired by the town and contracted out to the museum on a yearly basis. The town will be reimbursed for the curator's salary by the Clarke County Historical Society.

The last director, Kerry Reid, operated under a similar arrangement with the Clarke County Commission. However, the county opted not to participate this year.

Applications for the position should be made to the Clarke County Historical Society.

Other business

Town clerk Michelle Floyd will also be trained as a court magistrate.

Interviews for two new utility workers will begin July 6.
