Sales tax holiday discussed
Senior tax analyst John Paradise from the Alabama Department of Revenue Commissioner's office in Montgomery recently spoke to the people of Jackson about the upcoming Alabama Sales Tax Holiday on Aug. 3-5. Alabama's three-day holiday was signed into law on April 25 of last year. It will begin at 12:01 a.m on Friday, Aug. 3 and ends at midnight Sunday, Aug. 5. The state's 4 percent sales tax is waived during that time period on clothing, school supplies, books (valued at $30 or less), textbbooks (valued at $50 or less) and computers and computer equipment (with a selling price of $750 or less).
