Coffeeville

Annual Summer Fest

On July 3, Coffeeville will hold its second Annual Summer Fest. Activities will begin at 3 in the afternoon with children's activities, arts & crafts, food, music and concluding with fireworks. Proceeds will be divided between the library fund, police and fire departments.

'To Kill a Mockingbird'

teacher workshop

The Monroe County Heritage Museum will sponsor workshops which include two panels for teachers and readers on July 17, 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Old Courthouse Museum.

The first, "Mockingbird Summers - Visits with the Citizens of Monroeville" includes a slide show designed to enhance the understanding of the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird."

The second panel, "Moments of Courage-Against the Odds" centers on specific references to the era of the book.

Wildlife/Forestry

Festival

The Alabama TREASURE Forest Association Conference and Wildlife/Forestry Festival is scheduled for Nov. 2 & 3 in Mobile.

Topics offered Friday, Nov. 2 include: Creative income ideas for your family forest; Who is in charge when daddy's gone?; Legacy: Valuing land for the future; Watermelons are worth more than timber.

Saturday's events include living heritage and educational demonstrations, wildlife/forestry equipment displays, arts and crafts, music, food and family activities with pony rides, archery, petting zoo and wagon rides.

'Everyman, the

Musical' July 20-22

Students from Clarke and surrounding counties will be performing in the play "Everyman, the Musical" at Clarke County's new cultural arts center, July 20- 22 at the former Locke Theater in Jackson. The production is being presented by the Promise Theater and Performing Arts Center and the Grove Hill Arts Council. Admission will be $10.
