One cut, two arrested at local swimming hole
By Evan Carden SA Editor

Two people were arrested at a swimming hole near McIntosh, Thursday, June 7, with one of them needing medical attention after being cut in an altercation.

According to McIntosh Police Chief Charles Koger, officers Rico House and Brad Singleton responded to a call at an area frequented by swimmers, concerning an altercation between a male and female. When they arrived, they found Jimmy Charles Havard, 41, of McIntosh with cuts to his hands and left shoulder blade. Alanna Cordell, 20, also of McIntosh, told officers she had been assaulted by Havard and had allegedly used a knife to inflict his injuries.

Officers reported that both subjects had been drinking and Havard, who appeared to be highly intoxicated, violently resisted when attempts were made to remove him from the scene. A Tazer was eventually used to subdue Havard so he could be transported to the Washington County Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Cordell was arrested, charged with second degree assault and booked into the Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond.

After being released from the hospital Havard was placed under arrest and charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was held on $1,500 bond.
