Church Calendar Homecoming and revival at New Union The New Union Baptist Church on Highway 69 South in Coffeeville announces homecoming and revival services July 1-6. Sunday, July 1, 11 a.m., Pastor Donald Reed will preach the morning service. Guest for the 2:30 p.m. homecoming program will be the Rev. Clarence Lucious. Evangelist for the July 2-6 revival services will be the Rev. Edmond Charleston Jr. at 7 nightly. Pastor Donald Reed invites all to attend. Roberts' benefit at Good Hope Baptist Abenefit program will be held at the Good Hope Baptist Church of Grove Hill for Willie Roberts on Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. All choirs and groups are asked to come and contribute with songs of praise and worship said the Rev. Church program committee will present Gospel Exposition 2007, Saturday, June 23 at 6 p.m. Featured at this event will be the Silver Tones of Silas, Siverlett of Silas, Anointed Angels of Jackson, Jackson Male Chorus, Land Boys of Miller and many others groups and choirs. The Rev. Ivory James, pastor, invites all in the community to attend. VBS at First Baptist Leroy Vacation Bible School will be presented at the First Baptist Church of Leroy June 25-29, 6-8:30 p.m. "Game Day Central: Where heroes are made," is the theme. Participants will learn that God is always with them and gain courage to follow Jesus in the everyday challenges of life. Annual Youth Day at St. Paul Baptist Minister Eldridge Jackson of Carleton A.O.H. Church of God will be guest speaker for the Annual Youth Day celebration at St. Paul Baptist Church in Salitpa. The event will be June 24 at 2:30 p.m. Father's Day at Old St. Matthew A Father's Day observance program will be offered Sunday, June 17, 2 p.m. at Old St. Matthew Baptist Church in Choctaw Bluff. The theme for the event is: A wise son makes a glad father. Prov. 10:1 The day's events include a tribute by Patricia Dubose and guest speakers including the Revs. Earnest Hunt, Brian Chapman, William Jackson, Terry Hunt, Tyrone Pogue, Pete Crayton, James Campbell, Peter Rocker, Ted Watkins and J.N. Rivers. Pastor C.C. McCants invites all to attend and bring their fathers as special guests. Forest Avenue 'Jungle Jaunt' All children ages 3 years through sixth grade are invited to Forest Avenue Baptist Church of Jackson to join a "Jungle Jaunt" through the Amazon Rain Forest with the one true God. VBS will be June 21- 22, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. and June 23, 8 a.m. - 12 noon. There will be Bible stories, crafts, recreation, music and snacks. 'Game Day Central' at First Baptist St. Stephens First Baptist Church of St. Stephens will sponsor Vacation Bible School, June 18-22, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. for children ages 3 through the sixth grade. Pastor's 12th anniversary celebration The 12th anniversary of the Rev. James Chaney will be celebrated by Cedar Point Baptist Church on Sunday, June 17 at 2 p.m. The church is located on Highway 31 in the West Bend community of Coffeeville. Speaker and guests for this special occasion will be the Rev. Donald Reed and his congregation of the New Union Baptist Church of Coffeeville. Thalon performs June 15 at MHS The United Methodist churches of the northwest area of Washington County are sponsoring a Christian concert and revival, one night only, Friday, June 15, 5 at Millry High School. Thalon, a youth singing group from California, will be performing. The Rev. Nathan Attwood, youth director of the Alabama West Florida United Methodist Conference will be the speaker. Pastor Bill Messer invites all to attend. Game Day Central at Wagarville Wagarville Baptist Church will be hosting Vacation Bible School during the week of June 18-22. Registration will be Saturday, June 16 at 5 p.m. preceded by a parade and tailgate party. VBS will begin 5 - 8 p.m., Monday, with a registration time at 4:30. Children ages 3 years old through 6th grade are invited to attend. Each child will meet the 2A state champions from Leroy High School and receive an autographed baseball and football at the end of the week. There will also be a moon jumper and a gigantic slip-n-slide. All activities begin at the church and participation is free. Annual Mission Day at Goodwill Missionary All are invited to the Annual Mission Day program at the Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Bladon Springs, the Rev. Robert L. Jackson pastor, on Sunday, June 24 at 2 p.m. The guest speaker and special guests will be the Rev. Johnnie Heartfield and the choir and congregation of the New Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Juneteenth celebration set Juneteenth Celebration will be Saturday, June 16 at the Grove Hill City Park. Accessory booths and activities will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. A night service and singing will begin at 7 at the Wilson Chapel A.M.E. Church in Grove Hill. The Rev. Kenneth Glasgow will be the guest speaker. The featured singers will be Voices In Harmony of Grove Hill, Annointed Angels and Jackson Male Chorus, both groups of Jackson.
The celebration will be sponsored by the Clarke County NAACP.
