Mark Your Calendar CCHS Class of 1978 meets The Clarke County High School Class of 1978 will meet on June 15, 6:30 p.m. at the Jackson Steakhouse to discuss plans for a 30th class reunion. 'To Kill a Mockingbird' teacher workshop The Monroe County Heritage Museum will sponsor workshops which include two panels for teachers and readers on July 17, 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Old Courthouse Museum. The first, "Mockingbird Summers - Visits with the Citizens of Monroeville" includes a slide show designed to enhance the understanding of the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird." The second panel, "Moments of Courage-Against the Odds" centers on specific references to the era of the book. The Old Courthouse Museum, 31 N. David Crane to speak at UA anual meeting The University of Alabama Clarke County Chapter Alumni and Friends Association invites all alumni, fans and friends to the annual meeting Tuesday, June 19, 6:30 p.m. at the Kimbell House in Jackson. David Crane, post-football game host, commentator, broadcaster and host of Crimson Tide This Week will be the guest speaker. There will be a silent auction and the scholarship recipients will be honored. Chapter dues of $5 per person are payable at the door. Clarke and WashCo Soil & Water Conservation meetings The Clarke County Soil and Water Conservation District's board meeting will be Wednesday, June 20, 12:30 p.m. at the USDA office in Jackson. The Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District will conduct a board meeting Tuesday, June 26, 6 p.m. at The Downtown Grill in Jackson. The public is welcome to attend these meetings. Commissioner speaks at SWAIA The Southwest Alabama Improvement Association (SWAIA) monthly meeting and community information forum will be Tuesday, June 19, 7 p.m. at the Jackson Steakhouse. Guest speaker will be Clarke County Commissioner Rhondel Rhone discussing economic development in the area as well as his new role as advisor to the Alabama Department of Senior Services. VFW and Ladies Auxiliary meetings VWF Post 5355 and Ladies Auxiliary meet the third Thursday of every month, 6 p.m. at the VFW Club on Club Wiley Road. Members are urged to attend and new members are welcome Everyman, the Musical July 20-22 Students from Clarke and surrounding counties will be performing in the play "Everyman, the Musical" at Clarke County's new cultural arts center, July 20- 22 at the former Locke Theater in Jackson.
