Mary Brislin McKenzie Green

Mary Brislin McKenzie Green, a native of Selma, died May 27, 2007 at her residence in Jackson at the age of 86. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, as well as the Jackson Garden Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Green McCurdy of Loganville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Bruce Ward of Montgomery, Steven Kent of Atlanta, Ga. and Angela Lassitter of Alphretta, Ga.; and a very special friend and niece, Mary Finley of Jackson.

A memorial service was held May 28 at First Baptist Church in Jackson.

The family requests memorials be sent to your preferred charitable organization. Arrangements were directed by Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson.

Barbara A. Parnell

Barbara A. Parnell, 66, a native of Citronelle, died at the family residence on June 4, 2007 in Tibbie. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chatom Church of God.

Mrs. Parnell is survived by her husband, Marlin E. Parnell of Tibbie; two sons, Marlin Wade Parnell of Tibbie and Lane Parnell of Citronelle; two daughters, Lisa Dianne Barnes of Mobile and Toni Marlene Busby of Tibbie; four grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

Graveside services were conducted, June 6, at the Chatom Church of God Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Younge officiating, and directed by Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom.

Pallbearers were Jeff Dees, Jody Craft, Ataki Boman, C.C. Hartley, William Hill and Jimmy Atchison. Honorary pallbearers included Trey Oliver, Jeff Moss, Paul F. Gilley, Jay Scott Vanlooke and Tim Malone.

Elmore England

Elmore England, 69, of Grove Hill, formerly of Tennessee, died June 2, 2007 at his residence. He was retired from Mueller Steel Company of Tennessee.

Survivors include two sons, Donald (Charmane) Frazier of Montgomery and Tracy England of Virginia; daughter Wanda Mitchell of California; two sisters Mary (Columbus) Jones of Grove Hill and Laura Williams of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Nesby England of Grove Hill and Henry England of Buffalo, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted on Saturday, June 9, with viewing one hour prior to the 2 p.m. service at Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church of Grove Hill. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery of Grove Hill directed by Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson

Evangs Treon Scott Sr.

Evangs Treon Scott Sr., a resident of Jackson, died June 4, 2007 at the age of 30 in a traffic accident. Services will be Saturday, June 9, 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson. Interment will follow in Hotel Hill Cemetery in Walker Springs under the direction of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife Angela Scott of Jackson; two daughters and one stepdaughter, Andresha Scott, Azaria Scott and Naquesha Jackson, respectively, all of Jackson; son Evangs Treon Scott Jr. and stepson Nathanial Jackson Jr., all of Jackson; mother, Felita Scott Parrott and father, Jim Cooley, both of Mobile; sister Tashia Scott of Mobile and brother Terrance Scott of Atlanta, Ga.

Aubrey Stephens

Aubrey Stephens, a Jackson resident, died at the Jackson Medical Center at the age of 55 on May 31, 2007. Visitation will be Friday, June 8, 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home and also one hour prior to service. Services will be Saturday, June 9, 11 a.m. from the Jackson Street Baptist Church of Jackson with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson.

He is survived by three sisters, Katherine (Eugene) Holt, Shelia (Collie) Lowe and Cynthia Stephens, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers, Charles (Candice) Stephens of Jackson, Dornell Stephens of Grove Hill and Harold (Genevia) Stewart of Los Angeles; and devoted friend, Rosie McCaster of Jackson.

William Paul Abel

William Paul Abel, 66, a pulp and paper mill supervisor in Coffeeville, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was a native of Harrison County, Ohio. Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, June 4, with the Rev. Moody Day officiating. Burial was at the Grove Hill Cemetery in Grove Hill.

He is survived by his wife Kathy Abel of Coffeeville; two sons, Paul (Cindy) Abel of Sneads, Fla. and Van (April) Moore of Canton, Miss.; two daughters, Denise Anderson of Dothan and Cheryl (Jesse) Dowdy of Wingo, Ky.; four brothers, Donald Abel of Randleman, N.C., Dick Abel of Hubert, N.C., Bob Abel of Carlisle, Pa. and Francis Abel of Kensington, Ohio; two sisters, Nancy Nicodemus of Roscommon, Mich. and Bonnie Fife of Jewett, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Francis Abel, Dick Abel, Donald Abel, Frank Nicodemus, Woody Dumas and William Scott. Honorary pallbearers were L.C. Pugh, Bealie Hutto and John Erzen.

Brenley Elizabeth Castleberry

Brenley Elizabeth Castleberry, infant twin daughter of Heather and Bart Castleberry of Wetumpka, died May 25, 2007. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Joette and Mickey Castleberry of Montgomery and Norma and Charles McIntyre of St. Stephens; great-grandparents, Ruth Bush of Montgomery, Adele Seibert of St. Stephens, and Rosalie and Leon McIntyre of Leroy; uncle and aunts, Brian and Amy Castleberry and Elizabeth McIntyre; and two cousins, Kaitlyn and Allison Castleberry.

Graveside services were held at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, directed by Leak-Memory Chapel of Montgomery, on Saturday, May 26 with her grandfather, "Poppy", Dr. Mickey Castleberry officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite church or charity.

Floyd Russell Turberville

Floyd Russell Turberville, a native of Tunnel Springs and resident of Monroeville, died at his home June 3, 2007 at the age of 78. He worked in the stockroom at Vanity Fair Mills for 42 years and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Turberville is survived by one son, Benny Turberville of Jackson; two daughters, Linda Johnson of Monroeville and Wendy Butts of Excel; three brothers, Lloyd Turberville of Friendswood, Texas, Samuel Turberville and Jim Turberville, both of Mobile; three sisters, Ituria Green and Pat Allen, both of Castleberry and Vivian Biggerstaff of Texas; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were June 5 in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville with the Rev. Billy Lucas officiating. Interment was in Monroeville Memorial Gardens.
