Upset over Washington Co. commissioner's comments

In your article (May 24 issue) titled "Commissioners Respond to Call for Switch for Unit System," Washington County Commissioner Hilton Robbins is quoted as saying, "We were told by Clarke County Commissioners that the unit system does not save money and the people get less service."

I was shocked and surprised at this statement, as the Clarke County Commission body has never taken this position. I have not taken the quoted position, nor expressed any opinion on the subject. There may have been individual commissioners who have expressed this opinion. The article should have quoted them specifically so as not to implicate the entire commission body.

Thank you for allowing me to make this correction.
Patricia DuBose
Clarke County
Commissioner District 3
