Local and state officials question recent steel mill impact study

      Clarke County officials and a state economic developer working on the ThyssenKrupp project question a study that says Clarke, Washington and other area counties will each see less than 2 percent of the money to be spent on the new mega steel plant.

Memorial Day blitz yields 75 citations

      According to Jackson Police Chief Charles Burge, officers issued a total of 75 citations for various infractions during the four-day Memorial Day Click It or Ticket blitz, which took place May 25-28. Burge said no officers took days off during that time, with each working full shifts.
