Representatives for the 2007 session of Alabama Girls State, held on the campus of Troy State University, June 3-8, have been announced by the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Alabama.

Miss Weaver has a grade-point average of 3.8 and a composite ACT score of 24. She is also enrolled in honors courses for an advanced diploma.

Her activities include Interact, the National Honor Society, honor roll, the Student Government Association, junior class president, JHS cheerleader, Clarke County Jr. Miss 2006 little sister, Washington County Jr. Miss 2007 little sister and the recipient of an Algebra II with Statistics Award. Miss Weaver, sponsored by the Jackson Woman's Club, plans to campaign for the office of mayor.

Cecilia Caldwell

For one week, the young ladies will become citizens of an imaginary state, taking part in the political life of a community, primarily through campaigning for and electing city, county and state offices. They will learn the operation of government by participating in party caucuses and through the election process.

Well-known speakers and other state, county and city officials are expected to speak on civic responsibilities.

On their return home, the girls will speak to their sponsoring organization and other groups upon invitation about their experiences.

Sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Alabama Girls State is a laboratory of practical government and personal application of the duties, responsibilities and privileges of America.
