Spring tournaments come to an end With three of the six classes having a team from Washington County, that left four other classes to bring teams from elsewhere. In Class 4A baseball, the Childersburg Tigers took the crown with a 16-5 and 15-14 win over the Oneonta Redskins. In 5A, Cullman knocked off Bibb County in game one 5-4 before coming back and defeating them 10-1 in what would be their state championship game. Russell County defeated Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa in game one of 6A before losing the final two games. In game one, the Warriors of Russell County took a 5-1 win before losing in game two 12-8. The Patriots used a 10-run sixth inning to overcome a 7-2 deficit. In the decisive game three, Hillcrest used a nine-run first and a fiverun second to defeat the Warriors 19-4. In 1A softball action Kinston defeated Pleasent Home 6-4 in the decisive championship game. For the Class 2A title, Oakman defeated J.B. Pennington 8-5 after losing the first one to them. Leeds came out of the loser's bracket in 3A and defeated the Leopards of Mobile Christian 5-1 and 4-2. Alabama Christian did the same in 4A over St. James 2-1 and 3-2. Gulf Shores won the 5A title under former Clarke County coach Karen Collins while Baker grabbed the 6A title over Sparkman
For Washington County, it was the first time they had made an apperance in the state finals while Leroy took their second state title.
