Fire threatens homes and cemetery
Jackson firefighters responded to a woods fire on Sullivan Lane, Tuesday afternoon, which threatened several homes and a cemetery located near the intersection of Sullivan Lane and McDonald Road. The fire department was on the scene for approximately an hour, containing the blaze. Afire was also reported at the Boise wood yard Monday night. The drought conditions currently being experienced have caused the Alabama Forestry Commission to put a fire alert in place for all 67 counties. Burning is prohibited while the alert is in place.
