Rotch retires after 34 years

after 34 years Michael Rotch (center) retired from his position as director of the Alabama Career Center in Jackson, Friday, May 18, after 34 years with the Alabama Employment Service. He was recognized with a reception attended by fellow employees, State Job Service Director Steve Horton (left) and District 65 Representative Marc Keahey (right). Rotch said he plans to spend his retirement doing some of his favorite things such as traveling, gardening, hunting and fishing. A native of Chance, Rotch and his family have been residents of Jackson for many years. "I would like to thank all the employees in the area for working with us over the years and the public for using our facility," he said during Friday's celebration. "It has been a privilage to serve the needs of this community." Rotch's longtime assistant director Linda Holston will assume the positon of the new director of the center. (SA photo by Evan Carden)
