Two arrested on drug charges
By Evan Carden SA Editor

Two Clarke County men were arrested in McIntosh Wednesday, May 9, and face drug charges.

McIntosh Police Officer Blane Barnett said he observed Frank James Taite, 26, of Fulton driving without a seat belt, turned around and stopped his vehicle at the Family Dollar store. Tamyron Jamon Hill, 27, of Whatley was a passenger in the vehicle.

Barnett said he observed what he believed to be marijuana on both the men's shirts and saw small amounts of the illegal drug inside the vehicle as well. Taite consented to a search of the vehicle and the officer discovered what he believed to be a rock of crack cocaine along with $3,350 in cash.

Officer Barnett had also asked for identification from both subjects and Hill was only able to provide a Social Security card. A check found outstanding warrants, which were later found to be cleared.

"I placed Hill in the patrol car for transport to the police station and instructed the driver to follow me there," said Barnett. "While I was inside the station with Hill, Taite drove away from the station. I notified Deputy (Luke) Singleton who was patrolling in the area and he was able to apprehend Taite."

A check on both suspects revealed they were out on bond and on probation for previous charges in Clarke County. Their bond and probation was revoked and both were booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $7,500 each.
