During his time at Jeff State, he has served as a Jeff State Ambassador, a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and has attended with a full-tuition scholarship. He has maintained a 3.88 GPA in addition to working full-time, singing professionally at Canterbury United Methodist Church in Mountain Brook, and sings with the ensembles Sursum Corda and The Lee Scott Singers in Birmingham.

His scholarships to BSC include an $8,000 music scholarship, $10,000 Phi Theta Kappa scholarship, $4,000 scholarship to sing with the BSC Hilltop Singers, a scholarship in addition to his current pay at Canterbury UMC, and a yet to be determined amount from the Methodist Church.

Harrell lives in Birmingham, and is the son of Mary and Gordon Stoker of Jackson. After graduating from BSC, he plans to receive masters degrees in education and English.
