Lady Bears win area tournament

The Leroy Lady Bears won their area tournament this past week with wins over Southern Choctaw and Flomaton.

In the first game on Thursday, Leroy defeated the Indians of Southern Choctaw 17-1. Courtney Sullivan, Heather Ryland, Meg Smith, Jamie Jones and Kristian Atchison all had multiple hits and RBIs for Leroy.

In the semi-finals game on Friday, Leroy defeated Flomaton 2-1. Smith earned the complete game win for Leroy. Atchison scored both runs for Leroy, Sullivan drove her in in the third while Jennifer Overstreet brought her around in the fifth.

The Lady Bears came back and defeated Flomaton 4-2 in the championship contest. Leroy jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Overstreet and Megan Goldman scored. Leroy would add two more in the fifth as Atchison would lead the inning off with a single, followed later by backto back hits by Ryland and Goldman. Blake Rowland and Smith also added hits in the championship game.

Leroy (25-16) hosted Georgiana on Tuesday and with a win, will travel to the winner of Wicksburg and Houston Academy on Saturday.
