Aggies fall in third round

The Jackson Aggies' season came to an end in the third round of the state playoffs on Friday and Saturday against Trinity.

In game one, the Aggies took a 4-2 loss. Jon Luke Jacobs pitched a complete game. He gave up four runs on four hits, struck out nine and walked only one. Sam Griffin went 4-4 with two runs scored. Jeremy Reeves and SaCody Pickens added the RBIs for Jackson.

The Aggies took the nightcap on Friday night 4-1. Jamie Eckstein went nine innings for Jackson, giving up one run on three hits. In the top of the fourth inning, Sam Griffin blasted a solo home run while Trinity answered back in the bottom to tie the game at 1. The score would stay tied until the ninth inning when Griffin, William Taylor and Reeves all scored for Jackson.

In the rubber game on Saturday, Trinity took Jackson 9-8. Kent Myer added a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning. Jamie Eckstein added a big two-run double in the bottom of the fifth. The Aggies would come back with four more in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at eight. Trinity added one in the top of the seventh. Jackson loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with no outs, only to see a triple play turned on a ball hit to third to end the Aggie season. Griffin and Logan Murphy also added hits for Jackson in the loss.

Jackson ended the year 27-11 and set a new school record for wins.
