BTAPC receives $30,000 grant

The Community Foundation of South Alabama has awarded the Ballet and Theatre Arts Performing Companies in Gilbertown a $30,000 grant.

The grant will assist in a new program to work in collaboration with high school English teachers in 11 high schools in Choctaw, Clarke and Washington counties to include conducting "classic" play productions for 10th grade students.

The Arts Initiative focused on programs involving dance, music, performing arts, visual arts and other similar activities that enhance the creative experience for children.

Other programs to receive grants were the Alabama School of Math and Science, $10,000 to help furnish a state of the art science and art gallery; Eastern Shore Art Association in Fairhope, $10,000 to expand their Arts Bridging Education Program.

The program will be called Art Without Limits) and will challenge students, whether physically, mentally or emotionally challenged, or learning disabled, to express themselves through art; and Mobile Museum of Art, $30,000 to present regional art outreach and teacher development program that will enrich the visual arts experiences of students who are critically underserved by arts resources.
