The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life event of Jackson was conducted on the grounds of New Era Cap Company, Friday, May 4. This year's effort raised more than $75,000 for the fight against cancer.

A

total of 14 teams had booths

at the event with different movie themes. Those participating and attending the event were treated to plenty of food and entertainment.

Two teams, New Era Cap Company and AEC Lowman Plant actually tied for first place as the top fund-raisers, but AEC split the money it raised between Jackson and Washington County. Both teams raised approximately $13,000 each. A special award was presented to AEC recognizing the team for its fund-raising efforts and splitting the proceeds between the two campaigns.

Boise was the second top money raising team with approximately $10,000 raised. Their display at Friday's event was perhaps one of the more elaborate. The team had a replica of a pirate ship set up and some of the team members were dressed in theme costumes offering photo opportunities as part of the their fund-raising efforts.
