Bid approved for new CMCGD building
By Kathryn F. Pickard

This is a drawing of how the new Clarke-Mobile Counties Gas District's new building will appear.
The low bid on a new 10,000 square foot administrative building for Jackson was approved by Clarke-Mobile Counties Gas District's board of directors last week.

Hubb Construction of Jackson was the low bidder on the project at $1,567,743.

"They should start in about three weeks and it should take about eight months to build," Manager Tommy Horsley said.

The new building will be located behind the current office, where Ochre Avenue runs. Approval has already been given for the street to be closed in that area.

The new quarters will feature a large showroom for gas appliances, offices, a conference room, board room, dispatch area, file room, break room, storage and a drive-thru window.

"Right now when we hold a meeting we have to go to the warehouse," Horsley said.

Once construction is complete the current office building will either be torn down or moved.
