Participate in FAWN program
Students from Leroy and Fruitdale participated in the annual Forestry Awareness (FAWN) program conducted at the Lower Wildlife Sanctuary near Jackson last Thursday. The program is hosted by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and teaches kids the importance of good land, wildlife and forest management. The students visit a number of stations where volunteers from the forest and wildlife management industries explain the different aspects of good land management and how they work hand-in-hand with each other to ensure that natural resources are replenished for future generations. Students from other Washington County schools participated the next day. (SA photo by Evan Carden)
