Woman stabs man at McIntosh Greer's
Victim flown in critical condition to USA Medical Center
By Evan Carden SA Editor

A Pine Hill woman is currently being held in the Washington County Jail accused of stabbing a Grove Hill man in the chest at the Greer's Food Tiger grocery store in McIntosh Friday, May 4.

According to McIntosh Police Officer Blane Barnett, he was on his way to the McIntosh Police Department to transfer a suspect in an unrelated case to Washington County Deputy Johnny Curry, when a car pulled up behind him and its occupants told him that an altercation was taking place at the Dollar General store.

"When I arrived on the scene I found a man with blood shooting from two holes in his chest, one just above his heart," said Barnett. "I grabbed a roll of paper towels and began stuffing them in the holes to try and control the bleeding until an ambulance arrived."

The man was Ronnell Mose, 22, of Grove Hill. Barnett's investigation revealed that he had allegedly been in an altercation with a female subject at the scene, Julia Rodgers, 24, of Pine Hill, in the parking lot of Greer's, which is located across U.S. Highway 43 from the Dollar General. She is accused of using a kitchen knife to stab him in the left side of his chest, puncturing one of his lungs.

An ambulance crew from the McIntosh Rescue Squad responded to the scene and attempted to control Mose's bleeding. A tube was inserted into his chest and he was flown by MedEvac helicopter to USAMedical Center in Mobile, where he was listed in critical condition, according to Barnett.

The officer said Rodgers also received a number of cuts and abrasions in the altercation and was taken to Washington County Hospital in Chatom for treatment. Once released, she was arrested and charged with first degree domestic violence/assault, which is a felony, and booked into the Washington County Jail on $20,000 bond.

Mose, who at last report remained in critical condition, faces charges of third degree domestic violence/assault as a result of the incident.
