Parten plans to continue his studies in college in biology and chemistry and he will pursue a degree in medicine. Parten is the son of Barry and Lynette Parten of Thomasville. He was one of six Clarke County seniors to apply for the scholarship. The selection was made by a panel of four Clarke County residents. The scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of South Alabama.
Dr. Charles E. May was a longtime physician in Jackson. The scholarship assists Clarke County seniors pursuing a degree in medicine or nursing at an accredited university in Alabama. Applicants must have a 3.5 grade-point average and a composite ACT score of at least 20.
