Bid approved for new CMCGD building

      The low bid on a new 10,000 square foot administrative building for Jackson was approved by Clarke-Mobile Counties Gas District's board of directors last week. Hubb Construction of Jackson was the low bidder on the project at $1,567,743.

Fly-over nets field of marijuana plants off Dial Road in Walker Springs community
      Over 100 marijuana plants were found in Clarke County Friday when the Alabama Bureau of Investigation's eradication team flew over the county. A majority of the plants were spotted by the helicopter pilot just off Dial Road in the Walker Springs community.

      A brother has been charged with wreckless murder following a one-vehicle accident that killed his sister on Chastang Hill east of Jackson Saturday. Donna Dawn Rodgers, 27, of Evergreen was killed when the older model pickup she was a passenger in flipped.
